A season with lime

Last winter we mixed eleven lime plasters and left them on the studio roof in Lisbon. Rain, salt air and a very hot August did the rest.

What weathering reveals

The samples that looked best on day one were rarely the ones we loved by September. Lime rewards patience: it cures slowly, softens at the edges and takes on a quiet patina that no paint can imitate.

We now specify lime on almost every façade we design near the coast. It breathes, it repairs itself, and it ages with more grace than we do.
